This page explains how Affordrive collects, records, and manages user consent for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information, in accordance with PIPEDA's consent principles.
1. What consent means
Consent is your voluntary agreement to allow Affordrive to collect, use, and share your personal information for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy. Consent must be informed, meaning you understand what you are agreeing to before providing it.
2. How consent is collected
Affordrive collects consent through the following methods:
- Express consent at submission: When you complete the pre-qualification form and click "See my results," you are providing express consent for Affordrive to collect, use, and share your information with a matched dealership
- Implied consent for platform use: By navigating the Affordrive website, you implicitly consent to the collection of anonymous analytics data as described in our Privacy Policy
- Dealership activation consent: Dealership representatives provide express consent to the Dealership Data-Sharing Agreement when their account is activated on the platform
3. What you consent to
By completing a pre-qualification, you consent to:
- The collection of the personal information described in the Privacy Policy
- The use of that information to generate a pre-qualification estimate
- The sharing of that information with the dealership assigned to your application
- Being contacted by the matched dealership regarding your pre-qualification
- The retention of your information for the periods specified in our Data Retention Policy
You do not consent to:
- Hard credit checks — Affordrive does not perform them and dealerships must obtain separate consent before doing so
- The sale of your data to third parties — we do not sell personal information
- Use of your data for unrelated marketing — dealerships are restricted to contacting you about your pre-qualification
4. How consent is recorded
When you submit a pre-qualification, Affordrive records the following:
- The date and time of submission
- The version of the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use in effect at the time of submission
- The session identifier associated with your qualification attempt
- The dealership to which your data was routed
These records are retained in accordance with our Data Retention Policy and serve as evidence of consent in the event of a dispute or audit.
5. Withdrawing consent
You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting info@affordrive.ca. Upon withdrawal:
- We will stop using your personal information for new purposes
- We will notify the assigned dealership to cease contact and delete your data, subject to any legal retention requirements
- We will delete your personal information from our systems in accordance with the Data Retention Policy, unless a legal hold applies
Withdrawing consent does not affect the legality of any use or disclosure that occurred before the withdrawal.
6. Dealership consent obligations
Dealerships that receive consumer data through Affordrive must:
- Obtain separate, explicit consent from the consumer before performing a hard credit check
- Inform the consumer if their data will be shared with a third-party lender for underwriting
- Honor consumer requests to withdraw consent, forwarded by Affordrive under Section 7 of the Dealership Data-Sharing Agreement
7. Changes to consent requirements
If Affordrive introduces new purposes for using personal information that were not described at the time of original consent, we will obtain fresh consent from affected users before using their information for the new purpose. Material changes to consent practices will be posted on this page.
